FRANKFURT, Germany -- Mario Goetze scored two goals as Bayern Munich eased to a 4-0 victory over promoted Paderborn and moved to the top of the Bundesliga on Tuesday. Paderborns hopes of achieving a huge upset were dashed quickly, as Goetze and Robert Lewandowski scored inside the first quarter of an hour. Goetze and Thomas Mueller then netted late in the match as Bayern brought down to earth the team that had come into the match as the surprise league leader. "Bayern is in a different league from us," Paderborns captain Uwe Huenemeir said. "We started well and we had some chances but Bayern is a world-class team," Paderborns coach Andre Breitenreiter added. "After the first two goals we strengthened our defence. We tried to score late in the game and Bayern used the space to score." Paderborn did not embarrass itself despite the big defeat and wasted several chances. The small club is making its debut in the top tier and has a budget 25 times smaller than that of Bayern and is dwarfed in all aspects by the German powerhouse and defending champion. Bayern opened a two-point lead over Mainz, which blew a two-goal advantage and had to settle for a 2-2 draw at Eintracht Frankfurt. In other matches, Schalke won 3-0 at Werder Bremen and Hoffenheim and Freiburg drew 3-3. Paderborns only claim to prominence before this season was a dubious one. The club, then in the third division, was involved in one of the one of the matches manipulated by referee Robert Hoyzer in 2004 in Germanys biggest match-fixing scandal. This season, however, Paderborn is gaining attention for all the right reasons. By playing an aggressive pressing game, the club with a home ground that can house only 15,000 was undefeated after four matches and leading the league on goal difference. It had the first chance of the match when Elias Kachungas spectacular volley sailed high. Bayern quickly seized control, though, to end Paderborns promising start. Goetze, who scored Germanys World Cup winning goal against Argentina, picked up a backheel pass from Mueller to slot home in the eighth. Lewandowski doubled the lead in the 14th with a volley from the edge of the penalty box, but he appeared to be slightly offside. Paderborn then found it hard to come out of its half, but when it did it nearly scored. Idir Ouali broke free but his weak shot was smothered by goalkeeper Manuel Neuer. Lewandowski and Goetze wasted a couple of chances each before Paderborn somewhat settled down after the break. Xabi Alonso, having an outstanding game, cleared a dangerous cross from Moritz Stoppelkamp, before Neuer was forced into a diving save from substitute Suleyman Koc, who had served prison time for armed robbery before getting a chance at Paderborn. But Bayern struck again late in the game, with Goetze scoring in the 78th and Mueller in the 85th, both from close range. "It was very important to make a statement. Paderborn was having problems from the start," said Arjen Robben, who helped set up Bayerns first goal and assisted on its fourth. Schalke secured its first win of the season to ease the pressure on coach Jens Keller. Schalke was missing several regulars due to injuries and suspensions, while Bremen had five players out because of a virus infection. Shinji Okazaki scored his league-high fifth goal of the season as Mainz went 2-0 up in Frankfurt but Haris Seferovics goal in the 85th salvaged the draw for the home team. Yannik Vestergaard scored in the third minute of stoppage time to earn the draw for Hoffenheim, which trailed 2-0 and 3-2. The late equalizer left Freiburg still without a win. For the Bombers it has been a combination of things coming together at the most inappropriate moments in time. Quarterback, injuries, Canadian talent or depth and leadership are all issues. Trust me when I say being a Bomber is no fun right now in a city that embraces football the way Winnipeg does. While Buck Pierce will be getting another shot, I think Max Hall does deserve another opportunity. http://www.giantsrookiestore.com/Giants-Odell-Beckham-Jr-Jersey/ . The Clippers became the ninth NBA team to have different head coaches guide the club to 50 victories in back-to-back seasons. They reached the mark five games earlier under Doc Rivers than they did last season under Vinny Del Negro, when they set a franchise record with 56 wins and captured their first division title before losing to Memphis in the opening round of the playoffs. This is Rivers fifth 50-win season as a head coach, including four with Boston. Chris Paul had 14 points and seven assists for the Clippers, who have won 13 of 14 overall and a season-best eight straight at home. Griffin had his 29th consecutive game with at least 20 points, the longest streak by a Clippers player since the franchise relocated from San Diego in 1984-85. Ramon Sessions had a season-high 28 points for the Bucks, who have lost eight in a row and are a league-worst 13-58. They are 1-19 on the road since beating the Lakers by 15 points at Staples Center on New Years Eve — their only road win against a Western Conference team. Power forward Ersan Ilysova sat out on the second night of a back-to-back set because of a sore right ankle that has bothered him all season. Beleaguered coach Larry Drew used his 26th starting lineup, inserting Jeff Adrien in Ilysovas spot and Sessions at shooting guard because of rookie Nate Wolters broken left hand. It was the first start for both players since they joined the Bucks in a Feb. 20 trade that sent Luke Ridnour and Gary Neal to Charlotte. Sessions made his first six shots and finished 13 for 21 from the field, sccoring 11 points during a 3:43 span down the stretch.dddddddddddd. Adrien had 14 points and seven rebounds. They were the 15th and 16th players to start a game for the Bucks this season. Los Angeles never trailed, extending its five-point halftime lead to 71-60 on Darren Collisons three-point play with 5:34 left in the third quarter. The Bucks got as close as 82-80 on back-to-back dunks 28 seconds apart by John Henson, but Glen Davis responded with consecutive layups and Jamal Crawford scored seven points during a 3:52 stretch, including a 3-pointer that gave Los Angeles a 99-92 edge with 3:08 to play. The Clippers built a 33-18 lead late in the first quarter after centre DeAndre Jordan and forward Matt Barnes got in early foul trouble. Jared Dudley, who spent the previous four games on the bench, provided a brief spark with a 17-footer and a 3-pointer 50 seconds apart to give Los Angeles a 45-38 lead with 8:03 left in the half. The Bucks have gone more than a year since the last time they won consecutive games — March 17-19, 2013, when they beat Orlando and Portland. Both games were in Milwaukee.
